Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, if you are within our travel range. We are a local business serving Roseville, California, and the surrounding areas

  • It depends on how many customers we have at one time, but we will not collect your photos until we are able to process your order within a two-week timeframe. Until then, you will be placed in a queue, and we will notify you once you are near your turn.

  • This is for our clients’ comfort. All other services we found require you to send your precious memories through the mail, trusting that you will have them returned in an undefined amount of time. This creates a lot of unnecessary anxiety and hesitation. That is why we will only pick up your order once we can assure you that we have enough time to process your items in a timely manner. Once we pick up your order, you can expect it to be delivered back to you within two to three weeks.

  • We will personally drive to meet you at your home, office, or storage unit to deliver your items directly into your hands.

  • Well, our first interaction depends on you. Whether it's through word of mouth or one of our advertisements, you reach out to us. From there, we can provide you with an estimate through email or over the phone and give you an approximate timeframe for when we can start on your project. Once we're certain that we can deliver your items back to you within two to three weeks, we'll reach out to schedule an appointment to meet in person for a consultation and pickup of your items. Afterward, we'll bring them back to our office to begin the scanning process. We handle your photos as if they were our own, inspecting each one by hand, cleaning for dust, orienting and scanning each item individually to ensure the highest quality. Once we've scanned all of your materials, we'll arrange another appointment to meet you in person and personally return your cherished memories to your hands.

  • This depends on what kind of service you need. The most straightforward option is for you to choose and prepare your photos in the order you would like to receive them. However, if you are unable to sort through your photos, we are here to help. Since we scan every item by hand, we are able to remove duplicates, blurry photos, landscape photos, and even choose what we would consider the best of many retakes. Of course, we would discuss this with you before ever taking any action on our own.

  • This depends on the order in which we receive them. For each set of photos that arrives in an envelope, we will create a new album in your file and name it based on the information on the package in which the images were housed. The same applies to photo books and scrapbooks. For loose photos, we are unable to organize them but will keep them in the order in which we received them.

  • We reserve the right to decline scanning services for content that we deem to infringe on privacy, publicity, copyright, or other intellectual property rights. Additionally, we decline to scan any content containing nudity, violence, or potential illegal activity.

  • Yes, we can either scan each item individually or entire pages. If there is a problem removing the photos from the album, we may call to discuss alternative options for scanning them.

  • Every project is different, so every price is as well. Check out our Services page for more details on individual items.

  • DPI means dots per inch. So 300 dpi would be 300 dots in a one inch line, resulting in 90,000 dots in a one inch square. Most photographs from the past were shot at around 300 dpi, although some older photographs may have been produced at lower resolutions, especially if they were printed in large quantities for newspapers or magazines where high resolution wasn't as critical.

  • We use 300 dpi for our standard scans to capture all the information available from your photos as well as saving storage space and giving you the ease of sharing your photos online. We use 600 dpi for aging photos in case you choose to do restorative work on them. In both cases you can easily view them on all your electronics at the same quality of the original photographs.

For standard images, we typically use JPEG format. However, for photos that may require restorative work, we may choose to use TIFF format.

  • It is important to note that photos from the past were captured at different qualities and resolutions compared to those taken on modern cell phones and cameras today. With that said, your digital copies will be able to retain the quality of the originals. This means that if your photographs are crisp, clear, and taken in good lighting, the digital copies will show this. However, if your photographs are blurry, ripped, damaged, stained, or were shot in low light with a lower quality camera, these imperfections will also be evident.
